Fishing: The Mission Creek Retreat is located in the heart of Montana's finest trout country. With its frontage on the Mission Creek and the nearby Yellowstone River, the Retreat provides many fly-fishing opportunities.

In addition to the Yellowstone River, guests at the Retreat are a short drive from the Madison River, Jefferson River, Boulder River, Stillwater River, and the Spring Creeks of Paradise Valley, as well as an endless collection of mountain streams and lakes.

Hiking: Guests at the Paradise Valley Vacation Rentals enjoy strolling through the aspen and willows of Beaver Creek on our property, or hiking to the top of the hills for magnificent views of the Crazy Mountains, the Bridgers, and the Absaroka Range.

For the more adventurous, the Retreat is a short drive from miles of trails in the surrounding Asaroka and Shell mountains. In fact, we are less than four miles from the largest contiguous wilderness area in the lower 48 states. You'll find waterfalls, mountain lakes, and dramatic views on a wide variety of trails ranging from easy to difficult.

Hot Springs: Well, let's face it, you're here to relax and there is nothing more relaxing after a day of hiking or fishing than plunging in one of the area's numerous hot springs. We recommend Chico Hot Springs (one hour drive) for soaking and a gourmet meal. Our personal favorite is the undeveloped "Boiling River" just inside the north entrance of Yellowstone Park.

Wildlife & Bird Watching: The Mission Creek Retreat is home to a remarkable variety of wildlife. Grouse, Hungarian Partridge, deer, elk, moose, bear and antelope all live on the Retreat or in our immediate neighborhood. For the bird watchers in the family, the area is home to eagles, owls, hawks and various songbirds during the summer.

Horseback Riding: A nearby ranch leads half day or full day horseback rides in the mountains.

Mountain Biking: Bikes are available for rental at Timber Trails in Livingston. The area sports many miles of biking terrain.

Swimming: Well, it's hard to beat the nearby swimming hole on Mission Creek for a bracing dip on a hot July afternoon.

Yellowstone National Park: This incredible national park is only one hour's drive from the Mission Creek Retreat. Visitors will enjoy remarkable populations of elk, buffalo and grizzly bears alongside the largest geothermal features in the world. One popular driving loop includes a drive down Paradise Valley, through the wolf-laden Lamar Valley of Yellowstone Park, over the Beartooth Highway, and through the quaint mountain town of Red Lodge before meandering back up the Yellowstone Valley to Mission Creek.

Shopping, Fine Dining, Art Galleries, Rodeo and Local Culture:
Only fourteen miles down the road, Livingston is a vibrant western community. The town's Main Street has retained its historic buildings and features numerous art galleries and restaurants. You'll also find two live theater groups, a movie theater and numerous other activities, including rodeos, festivals, farmer's markets and county fairs.
