The Peckinpah Suite is the ideal place for studios to set up a
base from which to do shoot. Many have done just that. Film is
thriving in this area. Films shot here include, A River Runs Through
It, The Horse Whisperer, Legends of the Fall, Rancho Deluxe, and
many others smaller independent films. Aspiring or accomplished
screenwriters, filmmakers, poets, essayists or novelists may find an
extended stay in the Peckinpah suite just what is needed to bring
their muse out of hibernationÉ that is if the outrageously beautiful
Paradise Valley and its opportunities for outdoor recreation are not
finally too much of a distraction.
With the help of local artist and movie set designer Carla
Pagliori, the strange, gold wall paper from the Walter
Hill era (on the ceiling of the northern wing) was miraculously
restored, as were portions of the hand-painted pink wallpaper, and
the French doors Hill had imported from Paris in the 1940's. The
ceiling paper above the bed where Peckinpah slept which likely
predates even Hill was also restored. The bullet holes Sam shot in
that ceiling were, however, left in tact.
