Livingston is a mere 11 miles away.
Access is on paved and graveled county roads, with the exception
of the last mile, which is aptly named "Backdown Road".
You have to want a complete get away before making reservations for this cabin.
No one has gone away from the mountain cabins with any feeling other
than "awe"
This is the place you go when you have a yearning to remember what
is "important in life". There is an old Monarch cook stove,
which will bring back memories of grandma's. There is a generator
in case you want to plug something in (which you probably won't),
though there is a microwave and drip coffee maker available.
There is a propane powered refrigerator and hot water heater. There
are two propane burners in the cabin in case you don't want to try
cooking on the wood stove, as well as a gas grill on the porch.
There is a shower and kitchen sink. This upper cabin contains 2
double beds, 2 single beds and plenty of floor space. This is quite
easily the most peaceful place on earth.

The
mountain cabin is a true Montana experience. If you are ready to try
no electricity and an outhouse, you'll love this place. The cabin
was built in 1995, elevation is 6300 ft. (just this side of heaven).
The views are spectacular. You can linger a long time on the wrap
around porch watching the sunset give away to an extraordinary Montana
sky filled with stars.
